Mother Lode Scots

The Mother Lode Scots of Amador County in the Gold Rush/Mother Lode area of Northern California was organized in 1979 to provide an association for Scots and descendents of Scots who have been migrating from Scotland for the past 300 years.

The Mother Lode Scots, like their counterparts the world over, enjoy participating in Scottish celebrations, where they have an opportunity to wear the kilt, or just display a bit of their clan tartan.

Celtic League, American Branch

Founded in New York City in 1974. Our aim is to provide a link among all Americans of Celtic descent or sympathies who seek a deeper appreciation of their glorious legacy, and the need to strengthen the cultural and national identities of the Celtic peoples.

Las Vegas Celtic Society

The mission of the Las Vegas Celtic Society is to support and promote:

St. Andrew's Society of Southern Nevada

We are dedicated to all things Scottish. We gather to promote the Art, Culture, Dance,
History, and Music of Scotland; we also have fun.

Gold Country Celtic Society

The Society wishes to perpetuate Celtic traditions of music, dance, language, and costume.

Sons and Daughters of Erin

The Sons and Daughters of Erin is an Irish heritage organization which was created in 1969. The purpose of this chapter is charitable, educational, historic, and patriotic.

·         To revive, foster and promote Irish cultural events, interests, and sentiments.

·         To collect and preserve Irish cultural traditions relating to any of the Irish peoples.

·         To encourage the study of the Irish language, history, literature, and music.

·         To devote all net proceeds of chapter activities to charitable educational purposes.

·         To generally do and perform any and all acts which may be necessary or convenient for carrying out these purposes in a non-sectarian and non political manner.

Scottish American Military Society

The Scottish-American Military Society (SAMS) was founded and chartered in North Carolina, April 12, 1981, as a non-profit organization with the following purpose:

The Council of Scottish Clans and Associations, Inc.  (COSCA)

Additionally, the Council shall, through a variety of means, provide service to the various clan and family associations of the Scottish community.

Scottish Heritage USA

Scottish Heritage USA was founded in 1965 by Ward Melville "to recognize and enhance the original bonds of ancestral and national character among the peoples of Scotland and North America; and to disseminate knowledge of their respective cultural heritages; and in furtherance of such purposes to support the preservation of historic sites, the maintenance of centers of artistic and literary endeavor and such other activities as may be appropriate."

Sierra Highlanders

Nevada's Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band was founded in 1961 by John "Scotty" Sneddon who served with the Gordon Highlanders in World War I and, soon after, became pipe major of the 1st Highland Light Infantry. The Reno-based pipe band continues a Nevada tradition dating back to 1865 and Virginia City's Bonanza Period with the state's first celebration of the birthday of Scotland's Poet Laureate Robert Burns.
